Works Burger Oakville

We rolled up in Oakville sweaty and covered in sand after a day in the sun. Thanks to my naturally fair skin I had the added bonus of looking like a beetroot, a hungry one at that. Works Burger was particularly appealing as it was air conditioned and they operated a strict "wear what you want" policy.

Upon arrival we ordered some drinks and selected a table with no direct sunlight at my request. The drinks came out in large measuring jugs with lots of ice which helped turn me from crimson to more of a coral pink. It wasn't just the choice of drinks glasses which seemed slightly alternative. There were salt and pepper shakers that looked like light bulbs and the menus were full of interesting sounding concoctions. After reading the menu at least 3 times over, I decided on the Dead Ringer and Becky went for the R.O.F.

Becky's came out first. It was a gourmet ground beef burger with jalapeno peppers, jack cheese, a generous helping of hot sauce and a side of die cut chips. The burger was surprisingly juicy and unsurprisingly spicy. Crimson it is then. The jalapeno peppers along side the jack cheese gave every mouthful a slight Mexican taste which can only be a good thing. The die cut chips were left until last and by then we were full to the brim with burgers and bottomless jugs of fizzy drink. They looked quite nice though!

The Dead Ringer was also a ground beef burger that came with smoked brisket, BBQ sauce, jack cheese and an onion ring. Again the burger was nice and juicy, crispy on the outside and had a nice flame grilled taste, which upon reflection may well have had been the BBQ sauce. Whatever it was it worked! I opted for the sweet potato strings as a side which had a great orange colour to them, were crunchy yet managed to maintain a nice soft core.

We toyed with the idea of desert but decided against it and instead opted to get back to the hotel and slap on some aftersun.
